Shoe Care
Guide: Care by material
With the right care, your shoes will last longer. Here are our tips for different materials.
Vegetable-tanned leather
A high-quality leather, organically tanned with bark extract in Sweden. The leather may initially feel slightly stiff, but it quickly softens with use and ages beautifully. Clean with a lightly dampened cloth, let dry, and then apply uncoloured shoe wax or grease. We recommend Docksta Sko's own leather balm.
Wool
A natural material that stretches and shapes to your foot. It retains heat while remaining highly breathable and wicking away moisture. Wipe wool slippers with a cloth, but avoid using water.
Fabric/Linen
The fabric we use for our slippers is of very high quality. To enhance durability and maintain the shape, the fabric is laminated onto leather. Try to avoid dirt and water. Fabric slippers can be wiped with a cloth when needed, and we recommend using a protective spray designed for textiles.
Oiled Leather
Oiled nubuck leather that ages beautifully and easily regains its luster when treated. Clean with a lightly dampened cloth. Let dry, and then apply uncoloured shoe wax or leather grease. We recommend Docksta Sko's own leather balm.
Nubuck
Nubuck is a soft leather with a very smooth, fine matte surface, similar to suede. The difference is that nubuck is created by sanding the outer side of the leather (grain side) to achieve a matte finish, whereas suede is made from the inner side (flesh side). Wipe your shoes clean with a damp cloth and let them dry. Use cream and protector specifically designed for nubuck and suede. If the shoes have tough stains or salt marks, use a specialized sanding block to remove them, followed by a suede brush to clear any residue. Re-apply leather cream and protector after cleaning.
Kork
Our slippers feature a sole made of natural cork. The cork should not be exposed to water, as recurrent moisture can cause it to loosen or deteriorate. To enhance durability, the cork sole can be treated with a cork protector spray.
